Dr Mike Holland
Mike Holland has 19 years experience in assessment of the impacts of human activity covering air pollution, and the energy, waste, manufacturing and transport sectors. His research experience includes:
- Original research on air pollution impacts on health, materials, crops and forests and economic quantification of impacts;
- The development of cost-curves for several pollutants;
- The development of methods for environmental cost-benefit analysis including uncertainty assessment, for example under the European Commission’s ExternE Programme.
His policy related experience includes:
- A series of cost-benefit analyses on environmental legislation for the EU and UK government, including for the current CAFE Programme of EC DG Environment;
- Assessment of options for private companies in relation to environmental legislation;
- Development of air quality action plans for local authorities in the UK and other countries.

Mrs Sheri Kinghorn
Sheri Kinghorn has worked for EMRC for 2 years. Her experience includes:
- Development of the Action Plan Tracker system;
- Developing air quality action plans for local authorities, and managing the subsequent implementation process;
- Development of computer models, e.g. for quantification of the effects of ozone on crops in Europe and appraisal of pollution control options;
- Assessing the costs and benefits of air quality policy in Europe.
