Operation of the cement works in Rugby has been the subject of heated debate in the town and beyond for some time. Recently, the operating company was given permission to trial burn tyres. The Community Review is being established to monitor the trial.
EMRC are facilitating meetings of the Community Review Panel, which includes representatives from Rugby Borough Council, local residents, the site operator, the primary care trust, the Environment Agency and other groups. The principal objective of this work is to ensure that an agreed process in line with the Environment Agency’s Tyres Protocol is followed in the course of the review.
